This is a series of illustrations from my semester living abroad in Leiden, Netherlands working to capture the general culture and atmosphere of Leiden’s coffeeshops, market, and public.

Vietnamese Folktale: Toad is the Uncle of Heaven

    The King, impressed by the toad's courage, grants the plea for rain and declares the toad his "uncle" in a gesture of respect, giving him the power to call for rain by croaking.
